By Road

From the South - exit the M6 at junction 40 (Penrith), and take the A66 to Cockermouth (30 miles). At the roundabout beside the Lakeland Sheep and Wool Centre, turn right into Cockermouth.
From the North - Follow the A595 from carlisle to Belle Vue Roundabout above Cockermouth. Take the turning to Cockermouth, following the road down into town, going over the river bridge and turning left at the mini roundabout towards a second mini roundabout by Wordsworth House. (25 miles)

By Rail

The nearest railway stations for Cockermouth are Penrith and Carlisle - both on the West Coast main Line, from London, Birmingham, Manchester, through Preston and Lancaster, to Glasgow.

By Coach

A coach service runs daily from London Victoria, via Milton Keynes, Wigan, Preston, Lancaster and Kendal to Cockermouth, then on to Workington and Whitehaven (approx 9 hrs).

A coach service runs daily from Birmingham Digbeth, via Wigan, Preston, Lancaster and Kendal to Cockermouth, then on to Workington and Whitehaven (approx 6 hrs).

There are connecting services from Manchester to Preston. Many other routes can be used, changing at Birmingham.

Coaches travel from Edinburgh and Glasgow to Carlisle, from where you can get a bus to Cockermouth.

By Air

The nearest airports are Manchester, Glasgow, Liverpool, Blackpool and Newcastle. Manchester Airport has its own railway station, with direct services to the West Coast Main Line stations.
