Victoria Hall was purchased from the Brethren by Cockermouth
Town Council and renovated with the help of Manpower Services
Commission. It is reputed that John Wesley founder of the Weslyan
movement preached here.
The Hall was officially re-opened by Councillor L G Lytollis, Town Mayor of Cockermouth on 10th March 1984.
Victoria Hall is situated is a convenient central location on High Sand Lane, just off the Main Street within easy reach of bus routes.
The Main Hall can comfortably accommodate up to 62 persons.
The balcony area at first floor level is limited to 33 persons standing.
The hall has been used for a variety of events in recent years, these include:-
- Annual Parish Meeting
- Polling station
- Meditation class
- Exhibitions
- Coffee mornings
- Story Telling/Festival Events
- Cockermouth Speakers Club
- Young Cumbria
- Akido
- Book Sales
- Railway Society
- Workington Police Area Community Liaison Forums
- Meetings of the Cumbria Wildlife Trust
- Kings Church
The very competitive hire charges are listed within the Council’s fees and charges. A discount is applied for multiple bookings.
The hall is available 7 days per week.
Tables/chairs and kitchen facilities are also available.
